How FLAMES works

Write both names and cross out every letter they share, one for one. Count the letters left over. Then count round the word F-L-A-M-E-S by that number, knock out the letter you land on, and keep counting from the next one until a single letter is left.

F is Friends, L is Lovers, A is Affection, M is Marriage, E is Enemies and S is Siblings. The game above does exactly this and shows each step, so you can check it by hand.

Is FLAMES accurate?

It is a game, and a fun one, not a prediction. The same two names always give the same answer, which is half the fun of daring a friend. If you want what tradition actually reads for a couple, the Vedic love calculator compares two birth dates.

Questions

What does FLAMES stand for?

Friends, Lovers, Affection, Marriage, Enemies and Siblings. The letter left at the end of the count is your result.

Should I use full names or first names?

Most people play with first names. Full names give a different count, so try both and see which one you like better.

Are the names I type saved anywhere?

No. The game runs on your phone or computer, and the names never leave it. The share card shows initials unless you choose to show full names.

Why did we get Siblings?

It is all in the count of leftover letters. Try a nickname, or dare your friend to play with your names next.
