When Will I Get Married? Marriage Prediction by Kundli

Your kundli shows marriage through the 7th house and its lord, Venus, the Navamsa chart and the dasha periods you run, and astrologers look for the years when several of these agree, so the answer depends on your full birth chart. Ask your question below and the detailed report reads them together for you.

This guide explains each factor, love or arranged marriage, the reasons for delay and their remedies, what your spouse will be like, and Guru bal for every rashi for 2026 and 2027.

Ask your marriage question

Marriage is read from many parts of a kundli at once: the 7th house and its lord, Venus, the Navamsa (the marriage chart), your darakaraka, Manglik and the other doshas, and the dasha periods you will run through your twenties and thirties. A free page can explain each of these. Only your own chart puts them together.

The detailed report does that for your chart. Your question gets its own chapter: what your chart shows on it, the dasha periods and transits that bear on it, the months astrologers would watch, and remedies that suit the planets involved. The sample report shows exactly what you receive.

How astrologers read when you will get married

No kundli prints a wedding date. What an astrologer does is read a set of factors, each of which says something about marriage, and look for the years in which several of them point the same way. These are the factors, in roughly the order they are read.

The 7th house and its lord

The 7th house is the house of marriage and the spouse. Its sign, the planets in it and the house its lord sits in describe what marriage looks like for you. The 2nd house (family) and the 11th (fulfilment of desires) are read with it.

Venus, and Jupiter for women

Venus is the karaka, the natural significator, of marriage in every chart. Traditional practice also reads Jupiter as the significator of the husband in a woman's chart. A strong, unafflicted Venus is the single most common sign of a happy and timely marriage.

The Navamsa (D9)

The Navamsa divides each sign into nine parts and redraws the chart from them. It is called the marriage chart: its 7th house and lord confirm or qualify what the birth chart promises, and a planet that looks strong in the birth chart but falls weak in the Navamsa gives less than it seems to.

The darakaraka

In the Jaimini system the planet with the lowest degree in its sign is the darakaraka, the significator of the spouse. More on it below.

The dasha: which years are active

The Vimshottari dasha divides life into periods ruled by the nine planets. Astrologers look for marriage in the periods of the 7th lord, Venus, planets in or aspecting the 7th house, the darakaraka, and Rahu. These periods are calculated exactly from the Moon's position at birth, which is why the birth time matters.

The transits: Jupiter and Saturn

Within an active period, astrologers watch for the year in which Jupiter and Saturn both influence the 7th house or its lord, a pattern known as the double transit, and Jupiter's position from the Moon sign, called Guru bal, which pandits check before fixing a wedding date.

None of these decides on its own, and charts disagree with themselves often. That is the reason a reading of the whole chart is worth more than any single rule.

Shadi kab hogi 2026–27: Guru bal for every rashi

Guru bal is the rule pandits apply when choosing a wedding date. Count from your Moon sign (rashi) to the sign Jupiter is in. Jupiter in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th is favourable. In the 1st, 3rd, 6th or 10th the wedding can go ahead after a Jupiter puja. In the 4th, 8th or 12th it is avoided. It is checked mainly for the bride. Don't know your rashi? Guru bal says when a wedding can be held, by the broadest measure there is, one shared by everyone born with the Moon in your sign. It does not say whether a marriage is coming in your chart. That is read from the factors above.

Love marriage or arranged marriage?

This is one of the most asked questions in Indian astrology, and astrologers answer it from the link between the 5th house, which governs romance, and the 7th, which governs marriage.

  • The 5th lord with, aspecting, or in exchange of signs with the 7th lord.
  • The 7th lord in the 5th house, or the 5th lord in the 7th.
  • Venus joined with Mars, or the Moon with Venus.
  • Rahu in the 5th or 7th house, or with Venus, read as a match outside the expected community or background.

An arranged marriage is read from a 7th lord tied to the 2nd and 9th houses, which govern family and tradition, and from a strong Jupiter on the 7th house. Many charts carry signs of both, which astrologers read as a love match that the families come to accept.

Why marriage gets delayed: late marriage in the kundli

The factors astrologers read for delay:

  • Saturn in the 7th house, aspecting it, or joined with the 7th lord or Venus.
  • The 7th lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, or combust, or debilitated.
  • Venus combust (too close to the Sun) or weak in the Navamsa.
  • Mangal dosha that the chart does not cancel. Check yours free.
  • Rahu and Ketu across the 1st and 7th houses.
  • Malefic planets on both sides of the 7th house, a pattern called papakartari.

Saturn is the most common of these, and astrologers are careful to say it delays rather than denies. A late marriage under Saturn is traditionally a lasting one.

Remedies for late marriage

  • The Katyayani mantra, recited by women for a good husband: Katyayani Mahamaye Mahayoginyadhishwari, Nandagopasutam Devi Patim Me Kuru Te Namah.
  • Thursday fasts and worship of Jupiter, especially for women; the Mangla Gauri vrat on Tuesdays of Shravan.
  • The Solah Somvar vrat and Shiva-Parvati worship.
  • Friday worship of Lakshmi and Venus remedies, especially for men.
  • Saturday remedies and Hanuman worship when Saturn is the cause; Mars remedies when Mangal dosha is.

A remedy works on the planet behind the delay, so the first step is knowing which planet that is.

What will your spouse be like?

The 7th house sign and its lord

The sign on your 7th house sets the partner's temperament. A fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) suggests an active, confident partner; an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) a practical, steady one; an air sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) a sociable, talkative one; a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) an emotional, caring one. Where the 7th lord sits adds the story: in the 10th, a partner met through work or devoted to a career; in the 9th, one from a cultured or religious family; in the 12th, one from far away.

Your darakaraka

Take the seven planets from the Sun to Saturn and look at their degrees within their signs. The one with the smallest degree is your darakaraka. (Some astrologers include Rahu, counting its degree backwards from 30.) Your free kundli lists every planet's degree, so you can find it in a minute. What tradition reads from each:

DarakarakaThe spouse, as tradition describes them
SunA dignified, self-respecting partner with a sense of authority, often from a family of standing. Pride on both sides needs watching.
MoonA caring, emotional and home-loving partner. Moods run deep, and so does loyalty.
MarsAn energetic, direct and courageous partner. Passion and arguments come in the same package.
MercuryA youthful, witty and talkative partner, often in business, writing or communication.
JupiterA wise, principled partner with a teacher's or adviser's bent, often well educated.
VenusAn attractive, artistic and comfort-loving partner who brings warmth and beauty to the home.
SaturnA mature, serious and hard-working partner, sometimes older, with whom the bond deepens slowly.

Upapada lagna

The upapada is the arudha, the outward image, of the 12th house, and it is read for the marriage itself rather than the person: how it is seen, how it holds up, and what strains it. To find it, count from the 12th house to the sign its lord occupies, then count the same number again from there. If you land back on the 12th house or on the 6th from the lagna, take the 10th sign from that point instead. Benefics in or aspecting the upapada, and a well-placed 2nd house from it, are read as a lasting marriage.

Looks, profession and a foreign spouse

Looks are read from the 7th sign and the planets in it: Venus there is linked with an attractive partner, Jupiter with a large frame and a dignified manner, Saturn with a lean build and an older or serious partner, Mars with an athletic one. The partner's work is read from the 7th lord and from the 4th house, which is the 10th counted from the 7th. A foreign or distant spouse is read from Rahu in the 7th, the 7th lord in the 12th or 9th, or the 12th lord in the 7th.

Marriage yogas in the kundli

  • The 7th lord strong and placed in a kendra (1st, 4th, 7th, 10th) or trikona (1st, 5th, 9th).
  • Venus and Jupiter well placed and free of affliction.
  • The 7th lord joined with or aspected by the lagna lord: the self and the partner in agreement.
  • Benefic planets in the 7th house or aspecting it.
  • The same sign in the 7th house of the birth chart and the Navamsa, or the 7th lord vargottama.

Can marriage be predicted by date of birth alone?

Only partly. The date gives the signs of the planets and, on most days, the Moon sign, which is enough for Guru bal. The 7th house, the most important factor of all, comes from the lagna, and the lagna changes about every two hours, so it needs the birth time. The dasha also starts from the Moon's exact degree, which moves about half a degree an hour. A name gives no timing at all. If you know your birth time, use it.

Matching a partner is a separate question. For that, use our kundli matching, which scores the guna milan out of 36 and checks both of you for Mangal dosha.

Common questions

Meri shadi kab hogi? How do I find out from my kundli?

You need your date, time and place of birth. Marriage is read from the 7th house of the kundli, its lord, Venus and the Navamsa (D9) chart, and its timing from the dasha periods of the planets tied to the 7th house together with Jupiter's and Saturn's transits. No single factor decides it; astrologers look for several to agree. The detailed report reads all of them for your chart and answers the question in its own chapter.

Is there a marriage age calculator or "meri shadi kab hogi" calculator?

Tools that print one wedding date from your birth details are giving you a single rule's output, not a reading. The dasha periods and transits astrologers associate with marriage can be calculated exactly, but judging which of them matters in your chart takes the whole chart: the strength of the 7th lord, Venus, the Navamsa and any doshas. That is why we answer it as a report chapter rather than a one-line number.

At what age will I get married, according to astrology?

There is no fixed age in the kundli. Astrologers read early marriage from a strong, unafflicted Venus and 7th lord, with benefics on the 7th house, and late marriage from Saturn on the 7th house, its lord or Venus, from the 7th lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th, or from Mangal dosha. Within that, the dasha periods running in your twenties and thirties decide which years are emphasised.

Love marriage or arranged marriage: how is it seen in the kundli?

Astrologers look at the link between the 5th house (romance) and the 7th house (marriage): the 5th lord with, aspecting or exchanging signs with the 7th lord, Venus joined with Mars, or Rahu on the 5th or 7th house or with Venus. A 7th lord tied to the 2nd and 9th houses (family and tradition), or a strong Jupiter on the 7th, is read as an arranged match. Many charts show both, which often means a love match the families later approve.

Why is my marriage getting delayed?

The usual reasons astrologers give are Saturn in or aspecting the 7th house, joined with the 7th lord or with Venus; the 7th lord in the 6th, 8th or 12th house, combust or debilitated; a weak or combust Venus; Mangal dosha; Rahu or Ketu on the 1st and 7th houses; and malefics on both sides of the 7th house. Saturn delays rather than denies, which is why late marriages under Saturn are often stable ones.

What is darakaraka?

Darakaraka is the planet with the lowest degree in its sign among the seven planets from the Sun to Saturn, in the Jaimini system of chara karakas. It is read as the significator of the spouse: its nature describes the partner, and its sign and house in the birth chart and Navamsa add detail. Your free kundli shows every planet's degree, so you can find yours by picking the smallest number.

What is upapada lagna?

Upapada lagna is the arudha (image) of the 12th house. Count from the 12th house to its lord, then count the same number of houses again from the lord; the sign you reach is the upapada, with an exception when it lands on the 12th house itself or the 6th from the lagna, in which case the 10th from there is taken. It is read for the marriage itself and its durability: the upapada's sign, the planets in it, and its 2nd house.

What will my husband or wife look like?

Astrologers describe the spouse from the sign on the 7th house, the planets in it, the 7th lord and the darakaraka. Fire signs on the 7th suggest an active, confident partner; earth signs a practical, steady one; air signs a sociable, talkative one; water signs an emotional, caring one. Venus in the 7th is linked with good looks, Jupiter with a large frame and a dignified manner, Saturn with a lean build and an older or serious partner.

Will I marry a foreigner, or someone from far away?

Signs astrologers read for a foreign or distant spouse include Rahu in the 7th house, the 7th lord in the 12th or 9th, the 12th lord in the 7th, and Venus with Rahu. They are read as distance or a different background, which in practice can mean another city, community or country.

What is Guru bal for marriage?

Guru bal is Jupiter's strength by transit, counted from the Moon sign. Jupiter in the 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th or 11th sign from the Moon is favourable for marriage; in the 1st, 3rd, 6th or 10th it is acceptable after worship; in the 4th, 8th or 12th it is unfavourable. Pandits check it, usually for the bride, before fixing a wedding date. The table on this page shows it for every rashi with Jupiter's dates.

Which dasha brings marriage?

Astrologers look for marriage in the dasha or antardasha of the 7th lord, of Venus, of planets in or aspecting the 7th house, of the darakaraka, of the Navamsa lagna lord, and of Rahu. The years when such a period coincides with Jupiter and Saturn both influencing the 7th house or its lord are the ones they emphasise.

Does Manglik dosha delay marriage?

It is one of the factors astrologers read for delay, mainly when Mars is in the 7th or 8th house and nothing cancels it. Most Manglik placements are cancelled or mild; about one person in four carries the dosha after the cancellations. Our free Manglik calculator shows which applies to you.

What are the remedies for early marriage?

For women, the Katyayani mantra, Thursday fasts and worship of Jupiter, the Mangla Gauri vrat, and Shiva-Parvati worship including the Solah Somvar vrat. For men, Friday worship of Lakshmi and Venus remedies. When Saturn causes the delay, Saturday remedies and Hanuman worship; when Mangal dosha does, the Mars remedies. A remedy should follow from the planet causing the delay, which is what a chart reading identifies.
